eForm Form 1 difficulties...

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

eForm Form 1 difficulties...

Post by wp6529 »

In trying to enter my first eForm Form 1, I'm running into difficulties with the form even after going to the trouble of getting IE8 going on a PC per the recommendations on the eForm site.

When I get to the line item section and try to add a line item the "Type" field is not getting populated thus I am not able to select "Suppressor" (or anything else). On the previous section for manufacturer I entered my trust information since there is no other manufacturer as the suppressor is nothing more than raw metal stock prior to an approved form 1. The same "no OEM" issue will also apply when I get to entering a form 1 for an SBR as that will also be made from a raw AR pattern forging and thus also have no OEM other tham my trust.

Has anyone else run into this issue or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks,

Pete

I noticed that if you check the "My item is description is not in the list, create a new item." checkbox before you select the product type, the drop down for product type is no longer populated. If you select the product type (Silencer, SBR, etc.), then check the "My item is description is not in the list, create a new item" box, the product type will stay at what you set. Then you can fill in your other details.

Also, make sure to enter the manufacturer code FMI, since they won't have your trust in their manufacturer database.

FMI? Where is that from? The correct manufacturer would be the trust, or no manufacturer at all since the item doesn't exist in any form before the approved form 1?

Once you start adding your line item, there is the option for Manufacturer by name, or by code. Choose by code, then enter FMI and verify that. It means form 1 manufacturer. When you go to the next screen, that's where you'll enter your item information, such as Silencer, SBR, etc.

Is there some instruction guide for the online form I missed that explains that?

ATF has sent out a few eform bulletins to those that are registered for eforms. Not sure if they automatically get sent out to newly registered accounts or not.

Ah, thanks. No, they don't automatically send them. I did see one of them posted previously, but not the others.

It seems I've made it onto some email distribution list as of this morning and am receiving system shutdown notices. I guess that's progress. I wish they received proper funding to enable them to better keep up with the deluge of applications. It seems a set of documentation / guides does get sent to newly registered accounts, but it may take a couple days.

Three days of struggling with eForms and I have four of the eight form 1s I'm doing entered. I hope they sort out the issues they're having with the system soon...
