General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

It has the full auto marking on the lower
I know the selector lever is in semi (due to HK's stance on the commoners) but it looks like a standard 416 lower.
My only takeaway is that they have good choice in grips. I've got a hogue on every AR I own

And soon after we will see a rash of melted flip caps on the end of suppressors.
My guess is once they see the melted flip cap on the end of their can, they will assume the SEALs use it for an instant liquefied adhesive- (ie. Camlebak bladder split? No problem, dump a mag and that handy flip cap becomes a liquefied adhesive. Simply touch the melted cap on the end of the suppressor to the split, let it solidify, and BAM. Problem solved, charlie mike).
If you blow the picture up it looks like its metal so I dont think its a scope cap. Its not a Buttler Creek anyway. I dont see a rim where the scope cap would seat.
Clearly it is there to encapsulate the artificial environment that was created in the suppressor when they added some type of media or ablative. They did this in case the SEAL's ran into a potentially explosive atmosphere. It was widely suspected that UBL was cooking meth.
Now you know!

How can you tell anything (especially the material) from a blown up, really poor quality, pixelated jpeg?
It looks like a lens cap to me, but AAC has made various versions of a clamp on rebar cutter… could be a small version of that?

Ever fall down in the sand and plant a rifle, have a sandstorm blast the color off the weapon, or have a helo "dust-off" in the sand such that everything is filled with sand (I have)? I'm a-thinkin' this just keeps the yuck out of the rifle, and can be shot through if need be (although a new environmental guard will need to be secured to the weapon).

But wouldn't condoms be a better choice? The REAL Op probably used condoms, but HK marketing used them on each other before the photo shoot. So they used a flip-cap instead.

Condoms do tear
Good point.
Better use a diaphram as a wipe on the inside and nonoxynol-9 flash reducer.
You can never be too careful.

This is the winner. It is a scope lens cover, we used them on my last deployment, keeps FOD from the can and barrel.

If you were using cans, I imagine you were a Para or Ranger?

I know people who cleaned up at KBR. Mostly Electricians and Plumbers, but some other Specs.

It is not a 416, it is some kind of franken gun.
I cannot find a single part on it that was made by HK.
