Hey guys,
I just picked up a used Rock Island Armory, Commander sized 1911. For a good price.... When
I went to pick it up I realized it has a bushingless barrel.... s--t, my plans for picking up a cheap barrel and having it threaded to use my Trident 9 can just went to hell! I bought it anyway!
Does anyone make a bushingless 1/2x28 threaded barrel that I can just drop in my rock Island slide?
Failing that I will likely pick up one of the para ordinance slides that Sarco is selling and hope that I Can build it up on my frame.
Any bright ideas???
Thanks!
Fred

Check the slide, it may already be cut for a bushing. If so just fit a bushing to the new barrel and your good.
There are no "ex-Marines", just Marines who arent active anymore.

Re: Bushingless threaded 1911 9mm barrel?
Just pulled her apart.... No bushing cut....I think I'll need a new slide and barrel to make this work... Sarco has em for $139... So many not be too bad.... I got most of. The other parts in my 1911 bin to make it work.
I tried looking at a coupl of barrel makers for a drop in bushingless with No luck on line.... May have to make some phone calls!
Thanks!

Not a real Commander with a flared barrel you won't have bushing cuts.
Sounds like a bunch of "if's". The easiest cheapest way might be having someone internal thread the thicker muzzle end and permanently fix a adapter.

Yeah.... I think that may be my only option.... Who is good at the internal threading? I have used mike At Tornado tech and I know he does nice work.... But usually has a long backlog,
Does anyone else come to mind?
Thanks again!

Hey Guys,
I just had a great experience... and thought I would post up in the name of posterity! I sent my bushingless 1911 barrel (and slide!) into ADCO who threaded my barrel with a 1/2 x 28 insert.... for $165 total including return shipping.... I had it back in my greedy paws in under a week..... I consider this fantastic service.... and they did nice work! It is wonderful in this day and age when someone not only meets expectations... but exceeds them!!! I know I sounds like I am in the tank for ADCO... you know what.... with this service, your damn right I am... I will definitely be using them again!!!
GREAT JOB ADCO!!!
Thanks!
Fred
