Saw this in the National US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio today. With that new B&T design I tried to get some extra pics of it, because it is a neat design.
Unfortunately the glass case prevented me from getting in closer. Here are the rest of the WW2 guns displayed.
And if you have interest in seeing the rest of this trip, check out the gallery here http://imgur.com/a/WnuWg

Re: Some Welrod Pics
Thank you for this - I was unaware this existed.
I wish this could be metered to see how it stacks up against a modern design.

Re: Some Welrod Pics
I can find only one video demonstrating the Welrod being fired, but one can at least get some sense of how quiet it was/is. A Norwegian gentleman in knee socks seems either to be having a bit of trouble with jams or perhaps with extracting and loading with the twist-pull-push-twist system:

There's a lot of gunfire on an adjacent range, and he's shooting at a nearby metal target (except for one accidental shot up into the air) but the shots can be heard fairly clearly. Sounds to me like a moderately successful .22"lr suppressor with subsonics.

Thank you for directing us to this interesting YouTube. My only complaint is why is blue blazesa_canadian wrote:I can find only one video demonstrating the Welrod being fired, but one can at least get some sense of how quiet it was/is. do folks who want to demonstrate the sound reduction quality of a suppressor shot at a hollow steel barrel
or plate. Does it not defeat the purpose using a can in the first place? Especially a manufacturer.
Into a backed up sandbag or two feet of wet news print yes.
Even into wet dirt.

Re: Some Welrod Pics
I know! I've seen dozens, oh heck, probably hundreds of suppressors demonstrated on Youtube, and the majority shoot at close range loud metal targets. Even some members here are guilty. If they're concerned that someone is going to accuse them of pretending to shoot in order to give the impression of a very quiet suppressor, then why not shoot at a paper target with both shooter and target in view at the same time? In this case at least there is the one accidental discharge somewhat elevated from the barrel, at 2:24 in the Norwegian video. And listening carefully the shot loudness can be heard to be quite a bit less than the barrel impacts on other shots.Historian wrote:My only complaint is why is blue blazes

I have two hobbies. Shooting and reloading. The more I do of one the more I can do of the other.
Re: Some Welrod Pics
I love the design of the new one, would love to see a threaded importable one or a us built system.
