AAC 762SDN6 & 300 WM

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Obviously best to call the guys at AAC, but I think I recall hearing that the 762-SDN-6 is good on .300WM if the barrel is at least 24"...

But don't bet your can on it. I'd call the guys in Lawrenceville and see what they say.

I've heard the same thing as MCKNBRD, I think it might have been from an AAC rep on this forum. But I also recommend contacting AAC to make sure before you actually try it.

I'm the uniformed newbee here...... I assume that this same can would probably work with the old standby 30/06 then if what you're saying is true.... But I try not to assume anything since i know diddley squat about silencers.

We all know what ASSuming does...

But I think I remember hearing that .30-06 is generally OK, with about 20" of barrel. There may still be issues at the upper end of the loads, but, not having a .30-06, it wasn't a huge 'holy crap, you gotta remember that' kind of moment.

When I inquired about the N6 suitability on a 24" 30-06, they told me that it was not rated for it, however they do have customers who use it on that application with no problem. Sounds like a Yes, but we won't tell you yes directly situation.

You should inform your customer service guys then. They told us it was good to go if over 24 inches.

There is some barrel length where 300 WM looks like 308 to the silencer and it should make no difference.

This!

The 762-SDN6 is a 308 can.

On 24" barrels the 300 Win mag has the same muzzle pressure as a 16" 308.

So, you can use the N6 on 300 WM guns with barrels longer than 24".

I swear that when I purchased my N6, the AAC webpage specifically indicated that 300WM was fine. It has been changed. I've been running it on my 26" GA Precision 300WM for a few years now. No issues and hearing safe. I really do like it!
