New Gemtech pistol silencers for 2014. GM= General Motors?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

New Gemtech pistol silencers for 2014. GM= General Motors?

Post by vike »

Anyone know what GM stands for in their GM45 and GM9? Their new 45 sounds like it has a niche in the market: 1.25" diameter, 6.2" length and just 5.5 oz (no LID/booster) 32-35 wet, 21-23 dry db reduction. The monocore baffles look like a SilCo Sparrow

Going to guess. "Gemtech Monocore"

The monocore looks similar to the Silencerco Sparrow and the Liberty Kodiak as well as a few others over the years.

bender, that's probably correct. I thought by now someone would have patent that design. I guess they all like to copy one another and feel like they are reinventing the wheel when they tweak it a little  Oh well, it must be a great design then and a win for the customer.

They are patenting it, or a part of it. I haven't seen the patent itself to see what exactly they are patenting.

Why reinvent the wheel if you can tweak it to fit your needs?

There is no clamshell design on the GemTech monocore.
