Sign Petition to Remove Suppressors from NFA..TIME SENSITIVE

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Sign Petition to Remove Suppressors from NFA..TIME SENSITIVE

The petitioners have a goal of 100,000 signatures by Aug. 5, 2014. Although reaching this goal wouldn’t guarantee changes in current legislation, it would require the White House Administration to review the petition and issue an official response.

And just what do you think that "official response" is going to be?
Petitions on that website are less than worthless.

I think I'll start one suggesting that we stop sending foreign aid to the planet Mars.
I bet I could get just as many signatures, maybe more.

Seriously?!?!

Wow. You clicked on an internet poll. That will make a difference.

I guess you showed us what sacrifice and grassroots activism is all about. I'm sure that Hopey The Clown is shaking right now. He has awakened a mighty giant: The Internet Poll Clickers!!!

My only regret is that I wasted a bunch of money on transfer taxes when the removal of silencers from NFA regulation is now imminent.

Seeing how he has bowed to the will of the people on such trivial matters as securing the border, I think this whole deregulation of suppressors thing is a lock.

I just canceled the transfers on 2 TiRants seeing that I will be able to buy them over the counter like a box of ammo in a couple of months.

BTW: I also clicked on the building a Deathstar poll. I think that will be awesome, too.

Anybody can register on that website and start a poll.
Those polls are NOT started by someone in the White House who wants to know what you think.

It is designed as a publicity tool to make you feel good and to make you think you have a voice in your government.

The signatures are not verifiable and are not valid. They count for nothing.
If a poll reaches a certain number of signatures, then the White House will acknowledge the existence of the poll.
After that acknowledgement, the poll goes in the trash.

If you want to do your part, then go to the voting booth and vote the anti-gun politicians out of office.

My apologies to the forum for duplicating a post.

I participate in forums usually to seek advice and read about other's experiences. In this forum, I have been seeking advice as I have only just recently ordered my first two suppressors (the day after efile was taken down...great timing on my part).

What I don't understand is why some members bash and criticize the viewpoint of others. I welcome a different viewpoint, but that is different than being ridiculed.

I was just giving you grief about the dupe.

No judgment on the effort or your beliefs implied.

Congrats on joining the suppressor game, look forward to you sharing your experiences and lessons learned.

ETA:

The grief you are getting about things like whitehouse.gov petitions is probably based on the idea that politicians in general and the White House specifically are really only using the petition site as a barometer to gauge just how fed up people are with the system.

They have no intention to take any actual action on the petitions other than make some feelgood, ambiguous noncommittal response on the topic as a relief valve for people blowing off steam.

People get all worked up about something and somebody says "I hear you" ... "I understand what you're saying" ... "I empathize with your position" ... <insert some other check is in the mail, no I won't ### in your mouth saying here> and then most of the people who were complaining get all warm and fuzzy and go away.

When you reach the goal the White House issues mostly canned responses but I can't say as I recall ever seeing anything actionable ever resulting from one of those petitions. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, I just haven't seen it.

Wow. Sometimes, it's fun to be cynical. Other times you're just an asshole.

Don't see to many people laughing...
