Shims and your supressor

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Shims and your supressor

Post by wetboyz »

OK, I am just going to put it out there that I have no clue about this shimming of your can. I have quite a few cans and I have never been told about shims until today. Perhaps it is because I am using the can this time on a high power bolt gun. Nevertheless, please explain the theory and purpose behind this.

Please don't flame me-be nice.

Thanks

A rifle has longer threads than a pistol does. You need a spacer if shooting a can on a rifle. Rifles have longer 0.600" thread lengths compared to pistol thread lengths of 0.400" 22LR silencers mount properly on the shorter 0.400" threads.
