YHM Cobra M2 45 and Subsonic 300 Blackout

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

YHM Cobra M2 45 and Subsonic 300 Blackout

Post by tacticalhillbilly »

This may have been asked but I can't find anything!!

I have a YHM Cobra 45acp. It could be quieter dry but I like it. I run it on my P220, MP5 clone (with Gemtech 3 lug adapter) and my 22/45 Lite.

Thinking about purchasing a Remington 700 AAC SD 300 Blackout

So here are my Questions

I have read about people shooting 300blk out Subsonic and 308 Sobsonic in 45acp cans?? Is that true?

If it is true then what would be the minimum barrel length for say 300blk?

I want to build a 300blk out upper but I want to justify the cost of 300blk ammo!

Anybody have video???

For most popular 9 and 45 pistol cans, subsonic 300 BLK is good to go. But call up YHM just to be certain with their cans, and about the barrel length.

Here is a video of guy running a Cobra 9mm on his 300 blackout. He has a few others of that setup being run. No problems!!

Wouldn't the Cobra 45 be as strong or stronger than the 9mm?

Just the thread adapter to fit the barrel and the fixed barrel sleeve!

I would assume so! That would explain why it wasn't cycling very well!

Makes me wonder why YHM said "No"

Liberty Mystic is a similar mono core design inside, and its rated for 223 & 300blk.
Think its salesmanship? Liability?

I know the YHM is aluminium, maybe the threads can't handle the pressure...

I have a Contender in 44 and 1911A1, and I haven't heard ANY manufacturer give the thumbs up for sub sonic 44. I cant image why not if you just used a 230gr 45acp powder charge in reloads.

Everything I've read online makes me think that 300blk 180's and 220gr subsonic has about the same pressure as 44 special and similar subsonic loads.
I'm not and expert, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just getting into reloading.
I was thinking of 300 blackout too, and the Rem 700 AAC & threaded tactical looks like a sweet compact rifle & fun weekend toy
