P229 threaded barrel

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

P229 threaded barrel

Post by wmdaniel70 »

Hello again. I have a Sig P229 40 cal. that I would like to get a threaded barrel for. It seems that my only choices are EFK Firedragon and Bar-Sto. I seem to remember in the past that EFKs were not well thought of and even to be avoided. I have a Bar-Sto in another gun and it is a great barrel, but Bar-Stos run about $100.00 more than EFKs. Any updated opinions on these companies? Thanks.

Have the 9mm conversion barrel for my P229 I bought from BarSto years ago and it works fine. The only negative I can report about the BarSto is it is cut a little longer than it needs to be.

Never had a EFK and don't remember what complaints there were about them.

I have not seen a good EFK barrel.

You have an investment to protect(gun and can), don't skimp out on it because of $100.

I have an EFK for my Sig P229 .40 S&W. It was a drop in replacement and has been trouble free. There was a sharp corner on the feed ramp I had to sand off with my Dremel but other than that no issues. Only was a issue with my lead reloads.

I have a EFK barrel in .40 for my P239 and have had no issues at all.
In fact I have one for my P226 on order (lead time sucks, 90~120 days).
But I'm planning on getting a third barrel, in time.

Lateck,

Added: P.S. Bar-Sto barrels are good too, I have a couple non-threaded ones for my SIGs.

Bar Sto tubes are high quality and worth the extra money. I have one for my P229/40 and a G19. Drop in fit, accurate and never any issues.
