Who Says A Pistol Cannot Be Suppressed

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

I snagged a Nagant from Bryan @AIM from his last shipment. Should be a nice combo with those overrun TM micros

I've always been curious about suppressing a 'normal' revolver. Everyone says the barrel cylinder gap will mess it up, but has anyone done it and gotten hard numbers on it? I'm just curious how much noise would escape. It would definitely depend on the revolver, too. A nice tight Freedom Arms has much less of a barrel gap than a mass produced Taurus or Rossi! If I ever get good enough on my lathe, I will be taking an older Ruger Single Six and closing up the barrel cylinder gap and threading the barrel just to see what it actually sounds like. As quiet as a sealed breech semi auto? Doubt it. Much quieter than an unsuppressed revolver? I'm sure! Might even be fun to do with an old M&P .38 Special...

a .22lr would be a great host.

I've tossed around the idea as well.

You mean like this?

Henry was the inspiration, bought one and had it threaded. Reload for it too.

Knights Armament built a silenced revolver that had an enclosure around the cylinder to deaden the gases escaping from the cylinder gap. I don't have a pic on my laptop but it's a funky looking thing.
