I'm more interested on the other things on the table.
The SR5/7 on the AR, maybe it's a special 300blk version as it appears to be on an MPW.
The 45acp can looks new, with that odd knurled section on the front. Maybe holds wipes or lube? Could also be concentric from that angle.
The mini can on the MP5. Is that a TiRant S with a three-lug adapter? It's nice that clears the surefire light on the MP5, my subcan can will not, but my subgun can surely sounds a ton better than that.
Can't see the Glock on the bottom.
Funny that Hollister is now at SIG too.

Re: AAC Illusion, new eccentric 9mm suppressor.
the 45 can is a modular version- the TiRANT 45M... basically, you have a full size Tirant, and if you want, you unscrew the front half and have a Tirant45S.

interesting to release info now... and basically erase a good portion of sales between now and whenever these new cans are released.

Well it sort of erases the report of AAC not coming out with new products. I am sure The "Truth" About Guns will retract their story any day now.

That's true too.silencertalk wrote:Well it sort of erases the report of AAC not coming out with new products. I am sure The "Truth" About Guns will retract their story any day now.
"Truth" about guns... ha.
But really, are these all "shipping at SHOT" products, or will they be shipping sooner? I know a lot of people hold off on purchases to see what will come out, but I'd think even more will hold off knowing that new/improved stuff is actually going to be there.

AAC is making moves, very cool.silencertalk wrote:Well it sort of erases the report of AAC not coming out with new products. I am sure The "Truth" About Guns will retract their story any day now.
They've taken a lot of flack this year with personnel changes, the announced move, and product cancelations. Someone took the hint that they need to move some product and get back to some innovation and new products.

... do you then have two silencers once you unscrew it? Not practically, of course, but legally, since a "suppressor part IS a suppressor"?JasonM wrote:the 45 can is a modular version- the TiRANT 45M... basically, you have a full size Tirant, and if you want, you unscrew the front half and have a Tirant45S.

Hmm. Thus by Modus Ponens this means legally that the tiny dangling- participle* part of a DemoNratTROOPER wrote:... do you then have two silencers once you unscrew it? Probably along the same lines as the Salvo.
Re: AAC Illusion, new eccentric 9mm suppressor.
I'm not trying to troll or stir up doo-doo by asking that question, it's just there's a lot of fickle aspects to NFA law, and some of the legal details are perplexing and have potentially life-changing consequences for guessing wrong.Historian wrote:Hmm. I wonder if the Salvo ruling had an effect on modular cans. If that's the case, then awesome!

How long was the Ranger 3 on the AAC site? Still 2 weeks out?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Re: AAC Illusion, new eccentric 9mm suppressor.
Trooper,
Thank you for pointing out my awkward phrasing.
My intent, though it obviously fell flat on its face, was to
mirror, with irony, your sage caution to folks not to delude themselves
by thinking that they can screw around with the wording of established NFA regulations
as formally and directly stated, along with attendant penalties.
I am chastened.
A wise caution when speaking that unfortunately I periodically tend to forget, is:
"Bad enough to have your foot in your mouth, but when you have
both your surely have no leg to stand on."
Again thanks for awaking me to the need to clarify and make a Mea Culpa.
Best.

Griffin Armament has its Revolution 9mm and .45 which are user configurable.Prince Yamato wrote:I wonder if the Salvo ruling had an effect on modular cans. If that's the case, then awesome!

Anyone let me know if I am off base - seems to me that more manufactures producing suppressors that are modular are just "producing" the things... seems that if you sell the suppressor and its (for sake of argument) 8" OAL and is comprised of part(s) that you can remove to shorten the suppressor - it is just skirting what ATF and tech branch has agreed on (that you can reduce the length of a suppressor)et al; however, you cannot increase the OAL (thus increase suppression) and/or it count as "extra" silencer parts
And I would like to see where Griffin or SilencerCO has written approval from ATF - anyone?

Re: AAC Illusion, new eccentric 9mm suppressor.
Credit where it's due: This is a product I'm interested in. It would be very nice to have a pistol can that didn't require higher sights- especially for pistols like the PPQ, for which suppressor sights aren't available.
Re: AAC Illusion, new eccentric 9mm suppressor.
If a can that looks like a Maxim and is louder than a Tirant is AAC's idea of an innovative new product, my response is a resounding "meh."
Why make a steel Prodigy when you have the Element?
These are the things that are keeping potential hot sellers like the Ranger 3 from coming to market?

Agree - what is old is new again? - or they are just running out of ideas. Look at Sig...cast baffles - long Ks - designed to be run wet....the more things change / the more they stay the same
Re: AAC Illusion, new eccentric 9mm suppressor.
Someone PM me in a year when/if these begin shipping on Form 3s.

Re: AAC Illusion, new eccentric 9mm suppressor.
Only thing I like about this can is that it's driving tirant 9 suppressors down to $399...
