harvester

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

harvester

Post by jmaloy »

Hello all
been a while since last post
looking at the silencerco harvester
silencers are now legal to hunt with here in florida
looking for something lightweight , not overly priced and decent suppression
example of cartridges ; .243 30.30 30 carbine 308 3060 270 2506
how does the harvester work with the muzzle brake on the end

jmaloy, I have only used my Harvester on a 308 as my 300BLK is at the Dr. It definitely reduces recoil and the sound reduction is great. My wife shot the 308 and said the recoil is on par with the 223/5.56 AR so not much at all. I would guess the muzzle brake helps reduce the recoil. Not like the 308 is a cannon but it is a pleasure to shoot with it on.

If you do not like the looks of the end of the Harvester look into the Omega. I believe the end is removable wich will shorten it by a bit. Cost is more as is weight.

Good luck in you're search and happy hunting.

thanks for the input
recoil is not a issue
my mind tells me silencer and external muzzle brake is a contradiction
I have installed 100's of muzzle brakes and they all make the rifle louder
trying to make a good recommendation to customers
will be using standard sporter 22" to 26" barreled hunting rifles

At its price point, you'll be hard pressed to find a better .30 caliber suppressor. Even with the brake, it is an extremely quiet suppressor. Get one on the demo program and try it out.

A muzzle brake simply redirects the pressure and, in turn, the sound.
Adding one does not increase loudness, overall not directionally.

While having a brake inside of a can may change the initial vent of gasses, it shouldn't make it so the overall level of suppression is less.

That being said, I've read good reviews of the Harvester and that front end is pretty bad-ass looking IYAM
