Please help me find a 10/22 barrel

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Please help me find a 10/22 barrel

Post by dan9591 »

I don't know why this is so hard to find, but I am looking for a FACTORY Ruger 10/22 barrel with these specs:

16.5”
1:16 twist
standard tapered profile
1/2 x 28 threaded barrel
no sights cutouts

This must be OEM Ruger, not after-market.

I tried buying through Ruger, but they will only sell it as a factory installed part and they want a ridiculous amount to install it. I tried through Clark Custom Guns as they sometimes have take-offs but no luck.

This has been an extremely frustrating search... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I went through the same thing. Ended up just buying a 10/22 Tactical w 1/2x28 threaded muzzle.

Ruger Factory isn't easy to work w. Otherwise you'll need to find the bbl on an auction site where someone bought an aftermarket barrel and no longer needs the original. But if they bought a threaded barrel, why would they sell it?

And they are so popular that if someone sells it, it's usually to a friend. Cheaper than over Net and shipping costs.

I'd go haunt rimfirecentral.com, mad 10/22 parts over there, I've seen 2 LVT barrel/stock combos go for $100 each. One went into my safe. Lots of people out there don't understand how good the factory barrels are, so they swap em out on day one, unfired.
Proper grammar is awesome.

I wanted the same thing and all there is is the Youth model bbl, same experience with Ruger. I bought an 18 1/2" and had Que over at Rimfire central cut it back and reeinstall the sight. He does beautiful work.

You can usually find them on ebay for around $125. Most of them are barrels that were removed for after market barrels

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

http://www.eabco.com/Ruger1022Barrels01.html has a good selection of threaded barrels for the 10/22.

Can you expound on the need for factory barrel? From the outside it seems an odd requirement since better barrels are available that match all your other specs.

Unfortunately these are used and I have had bad luck with used parts before, so these are off the list...

I found some "new" barrels on eBay, but they are a mix of lies and modifications. People either chop and thread a longer barrel or sell fakes.

It's for a project I am undertaking with my son. I am sure there are better options than the standard factory offerings, but we are trying to stay all original.

Seller's response when I asked if these are factory barrels:

Our gunsmith made the threads on a new Ruger factory barrel. We have sold
hundreds of these with pretty good feedback. Thanks

Personally, I avoid ebay for pretty much anything because of shady sellers like this...

He said he tried Clark but no luck.

It might be because he is looking specifically for a factory 16.5" threaded barrel. Not everybody throws away the factory threaded barrel. Clark usually has plenty of barrels but most people buy the cheapest 10/22 they can find and the 16.5" threaded barrel models are usually not the cheapest 10/22 on the shelf.

Probably the best course of action would be to tell Clark you want to buy one of the take off barrels chopped to 16.5" and threaded.

If you want a factory barrel best thing to do is just have the one you have modified to what you want, try "Jp Grips & Machine".
