General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

3rd party SilencerCo Omega Maad mount adapter in the works

Post by jdasilva »

Saw a picture on Instagram of a proposed omega saker maad mount adapter & thought yall might be interested. When I order the omega I'll stick to the ASR mount tho.

The Instagram user's name is anibal999r or you can find my repost under jdasilva_pigsnguns

Kinda sucks knowing that Silco already has these made for internal use only. For now anyway.

I've also heard rumors that SiCO has them for their own internal use and are choosing not to produce for commercial release

What I'm curious to know is WHY they aren't commercially releasing them.

I guess I've just never grown out of that 3-year-old "why?" stage.

My wife really should be Sainted...

Forget the adapter, why can't they just make a MAAD mount for the omega. I'm sure they would sell. I now have a Saker and the corresponding MAAD mounts and I wouldn't want to have to change all the mounts to the ASR just so I could get an omega as well.

Agreed. My Form 4 for my Saker 7.62 showed up at my dealer today (3 weeks since approval..sigh). I've been trying to decide if I want to go ahead on an Omega now in case of 41p. If a MAAD mount was available that paperwork would have been filed 2 weeks ago.

Why wait on it? If you delay you may get bit by 41p, and if you don't delay you get a can you want a bit sooner than you wanted it.

Buying now sounds like a win/win to me.

Yea the MAAD design is definitely flexible and adaptable. And superior imo. Even Liberty designed a MAAD adapter for use on their Mystic:

How does it put Saker sales at risk? Its not a "better" can. There are trade offs with each. It is shorter and lighter because it lacks the MAAD mount and its not built as heavily. A direct thread saker is closer in size and weight and offers more versatility in barrel length options. You can use shorter barrels on the Saker.

Don't get me wrong, the Omega is a cool can. It's not just not better than the Saker. They are designed with different endgames in mind. They each serve a purpose.

I am personally of the mind that they should make MAAD mounts for the Omega and they should make that break for the Saker.

Why not put all options on the table?
