308 to 22?

I do some animal damage control from time to time.. I have read several pages of post here and realize that everyone suggest 2 cans but i'll ask anyway.. what silencer would you suggest that I buy to swap from a 22 to a 308? I only want 1 can.. I'm not trying to show my buddies how quite my gun is.. i'll be shooting sub sonic ammo.. I just dont want the neighbors down the road calling me every time I shoot a groundhog eating my beans.. (this year i'm planting 45 acres of soybeans) I own a machine shop so threading the barrels/ making adapters is a walk in the park. I doubt I will shoot over 100 rounds a year through it... thank you in advance..

The purist will tell you no.

The 22lr will muck up the inside of the can, my concern from this would be loss of accuracy with 308 from crud building up on the baffle apertures but the 308 rounds would probably clean that right off.

If you are staying subsonic on the 308 then a Liberty Mystic X will do the job

I wouldn't recommend any.

Honestly, if I owned a machine shop, I'd spend $100 on material (which you might have laying around), $400 on tax stamps and have a can for either.

For subsonic ammo, you'd have no issues producing great cans. There are plenty of designs, this site can offer.

In all reality, you could file a form1 trust today and, reasonably, expect to be done with the cans by end of June.

Ditto. The Mystic can handle everything else in between also... except 40 and 45.

Get a .22 can and a centerfire can. Your life will be easier.

It'll take a little digging, but it's enjoyable digging!!

The CNC Guns site shows very poorly designed K baffles, I would not emulate those.

If you want a commercial silencer, pretty much any stainless/inconel .308 silencer would be fine for occasional limited .22LR use. If you gunk it up you can use the Dip to clean it. Or buy a disassembling .308 silencer, there are a few brands.

The Arfcom suppressor forum has a great thread on home built silencers with some pretty decent designs.

Instead of referencing our own SilencerSmithing Forum, you suggest Arfcom

This place is pretty dead nowadays. It's easier to find something on Page 1 of Arfcom than page 38 of ST.
