Register the suppressor to a corporation??

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

done it.

pros and cons depend on where you live and what it costs to maintain your LLC, how you plan to move trustees/employees in and out, LLC is public, Trust is private, tax papers, fingerprint possibility, 4473 paperwork is different between the two

Sounds complicated...and what are you going to do with all those NFA items if your LLC/Corp folds and no longer exists?

Go the Trust route - it's easier and, as stated above, is 100% private.

I don't find it complicated at all.

I don't see any reason to spread unfounded fear about LLC/Corp "folding". All the people who make and sell the NFA items you own manage all their assets under a LLC and not a Trust so it can't be all bad.

But certainly if someone is not capable of understanding how a LLC works they shouldn't get one.

The last state I lived in decided that all corporations have to pay their fair share, even if they don't have any income, so they instituted a minimum corporate tax. Kinda sucks to be faced with the choice of paying an ongoing tax or paying $200 a pop to roll your NFA items out of your corporation and into your trust.

That's the bigger deal, IMO. Trust vs Corp for NFA ownership makes no real difference, the difference is whether it's hard or easy to start/maintain a corporation in your state. Some states you just drop off papers once. Others require corporate paperwork and taxes every year, and if you forget, your corporation stops existing, and you own a bunch of unregistered NFA items.
