A nice review

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Looks a bit difficult to get a 135 db from a 308 can ,
Maybe is the place when the test is done , it would be nice if there was gemtech , sig and new surefire ( 129db    )

I've only ever metered one .308 can that hit 135 at the muzzle. That was a Specwar with the baffles coated with oil from the assembly process before shipping.

Suppressors are so optimized right now that manufacturers are stepping over dollars to pick up pennies at the muzzle. There's a point where things are so efficient that you have to really begin to consider conservation of energy. If a suppressor is really hitting the mid 130's for .308 and/or upper 120's for 5.56, then you can guarantee that that energy is going somewhere--and that's back at the shooter. Dedicated 5.56 suppressors are especially bad at this. It would have been very revealing for MAC to have tested at the ear also.

People have been picking up recently that 5.56 mini's will actually reduce back-pressure for the shooter. The muzzle is still so loud, though, that it's not as noticeable as it should be. I've been able to measure this with our Sandman-S and Sandman-L. The baffle design is inherently low back-pressure, but the -S model can actually be quieter at the ear than the -L. It's slight, but it's there. After our development was over, we decided there really is no need for a dedicated 5.56 can in our line. We would look good on paper at the muzzle, but it only gets louder for the shooter. Not worth it.
