question about the dip

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

I use it on my baffles for my spectra II, but is it safe to use it on the tube and end caps. or will it take the coating off?

There's a decent write up on that at this link http://bfy.tw/YkL

There's a thread at this link that specifically talks about the effects of the dip on the finish of a can http://bfy.tw/YkS

Peroxyacetic acid is a mild acid. It is just vinegar as a base but vinegar is still an acid and if there is something in your can be it the finish or any aluminum that is susceptible to acid attack it will do what acid does. Even mild steel will pit over time when exposed to even mild acids like Acetic.
