Is it legal to convert one caliber of silencer to another caliber?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

I have a Ti-rant .45 and want to make it a 9mm. Can it be converted to 9mm?

Why would you need to? Simply screw it on and shoot it. A bore change wouldn't make a large enough difference to warrant the loss of flexibility.

Nope, can't be done.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Illegal to change cal, but 9mm end caps are all the rage these days.

As it currently stands, you cannot own an extra 9mm endcap for a Tirant 45. But you can for an Octane 45.

Just shoot 9mm through it. You don't need to change anything but the piston.

My TiRant .45 is excellent when used on my 9mm hosts.

Technically it is legal. But ATF will want you to pay them another $200 for "remanufacturing" that silencer.

I tend to agree with the others, to just shoot 9mm through it as-is.

Why is that?
Because it is a silencer part.

Then why can you own an extra one for an Octane 45?

Because theirs is classified as an accessory.
