Cleaning a Specwar 762........

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Cleaning a Specwar 762........

Post by rb288 »

I have been shooting my Specwar 762 quite a bit lately on my 300blk rifles and I have noticed that it is getting pretty dirty.
Is there any need to clean it and if so, how is the best way to do that?

I can run my finger around the inside of the mount and it comes away very dirty.

Thanks.

Beings it is made of 17-4 Stainless Steel, 300 Stainless Steel, Stellite I'd use the (dip)
50% white vinegar, 50% hydrogen peroxide soak over night in a ventilated area, wash with water and blow out with compressed air.
If it's really dirty I've repeated this up to 3 days.

No need to do any manual cleaning methods for a rifle can. Ever.
Other than maybe taking a bronze brush to clean inside the mount area and threads.

The most fun way is do a few mag dumps of full auto 556.
If no access to a giggle switch, then rapid fire will do.

I just soak most of my cans in Kroil for a few days and blow them out with an air compressor outside.

I don't see a need to use the dip unless you are cleaning a 22 suppressor.

I've had no issues with coated lead both Powder Coat and Hi Tech coated. They're proving to be cleaner than jacketed for me...and cleaner.

Why shouldnt he be? I use 240 grain leatherhead coated in mine. Works like a champ. A fast fire of 50 or so supers will clean anything you don't want in the can out.
