Serviceable 30 cal can?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Serviceable 30 cal can?

Post by Elkins45 »

I already have a Thompson Machine Thirty. What other serviceable 30 caliber cans are out there? I know Huntertown Arms but I hear almost nothing but bad things about them.

Intended use would be as a dedicated can for cast lead bullets in 300 blackout AR.

don't own one but it seems like from what I've heard people are pretty happy with Gemtech 300BLK

http://www.gem-tech.com/store/pc/GMT-300BLK-p877.htm

Specifically designed for 300 blackout only subs and supers. Might be worth checking out.

Do you plan on subs only or also supers?

What barrel length?

The Liberty Mystic X can handle super 300bo and sub 308

It can also handle saami 35 Remington.

If you are looking at only shooting subsonic rounds - another option would be either the SilencerCo Octane 9 or 45 HD suppressors.

If I remember correctly, the 9mm can sound tested a little better, but now that they offer 9mm replacement end caps for the 45, it might be the best option.

Easy to clean, and lighter weight than most 30 cal cans. You also get the added bonus of a great pistol can that is also a great rimfire can.

Good luck,

^^This works great for me with a 9.5" 300BLK barrel and 125 grain supers- my go-to night time hog hunting rig.^^ The set up also works great using the Palmetto Projectiles 203 grain powder coated Hi-Tek bullets (At $.07/ each).

My hog hunting buddy has the Titsworth Mountaineer and it is a very well built can. It would do everything you want in spades- the only downside is it is 30 ounces.

Hmmm...how quiet would a 45 can be with 300 blackout? I just happen to have a threaded Glock 21 barrel that I bought for a failed 45 super experiment.

There is also Curtis Tactical:

I also have a THIRTY and have not been super happy with it. It's heavy and hard to disassemble. I guess it suppresses well, it's my only rifle can so I don't really have a comparison. It reduces even a 11.5" 5.56 AR muzzle concussion down to "comfortable" a few feet behind the shooter.

There are videos floating around with 45 cans on 300 BO. I have a TiRant 45 and it sounds very nice on my Rem Micro 7 300BO. However, I do have a SiCO Harvester Big Bore in jail, so I won't be needing the 45 can do do double duty much longer.

My Octane45 does a great job on my G23 as well as on my .308x39 rifle.
I haven't tried it on my 300blk, as I have a dedicated suppressor for it, but the .308x39 is about the same.
