On my 24" 308 bolt gun I'm starting to have some pretty hard carbon build-up on the muzzle that is very difficult to clean. It reminds me of the carbon build up you get on a QD mount after shooting it suppressed. I'm using a direct thread TBAC 30P-1, shooting my 175 SMK hand loads with 39.9 gr Varget. I'm worried that the build-up will start to cause accuracy issues if it gets too thick by interfering with the crown. I don't want to try anything too abrasive for fear that I might damage the crown.
Have any of you noticed this buildup causing any issues with accuracy, and what do you suggest is the best way to get it off without damaging the crown?
