Rugged Obsidian 45

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Very sweet design. I wonder why they didn't leave longitudinal cooling fins along the body's length, instead of bare surface?
I wish that someone would post links to NFA ATF rulings that authorize the modular concept. Usually, they would be considered "extra" parts requiring added serial and stamp.
I'd probably use the 6.7" for most shooting, only using the extra 4 baffles if wildlife is nearby that I don't want to spook.

I saw your vid in the Review Section. Very good job as usual.
Too bad that the 1st 2 baffles aren't Stellite for use on .308. Like their other 2 options. Surge and Razor. (I know that ALL of those baffles are Stellite. But just the 1st 2 would be OK w me if the remainder were 304SS, etc.)
And too bad that they are $1300 for modular and $950 for the "Shorty." $995 and $850 would suit my wallet better.

Silencershop has them in stock for $779.00 for the modular which is both the long and short version in one. To make the short version you just remove the front extension.

I see $920 Surge, $807 Razor. But that's even slightly better than what I asked for. So thank you. :)

I referenced the Surge and Razors' MSRP of 1300 and 950$.
I realize that I wasn't very clear.
Sorry for confusion.
You still showed me that I could get the Surge for $920 rather than the $1300 MSRP or my own request of $995.
So, thank you. :)

Looks like an improved tirant but w octane baffles. Looks cool.

I inquired about AAC selling me all steel baffles but no dice.

QRF is selling them for $655 with the booster, pretty hard to beat that price!

I had to jump on this one and get a form 4 going. I really have been wanting to try a Rugged Surge 7.62 but because I have mounts on all my rifles already, I have abstained. But the fact that this pistol can has the ability to use Silencerco pistons sealed the deal for me. I already have a "modular" 45 can in the Griffin Armament Revolution 45 pending but this one seems like a great addition to the collection.

I missed this part, where did you read that?

Not challenging you, just want to read it for myself.

I asked and Rugged answered on their Facebook account. They also stated it in a AR15 thread.

Yeap I'm with you. I have 4 - 45 suppressors and they all use Silencerco Pistons so for my to invest in this Rugged suppressor and be able to use all my existing Pistons is a big deal for me. I'm very happy that they designed it to be compatible
