New suppressor from Ruger....Ruger?
Yeah thats right! I accidentally stumbled on their new catalog they hosted on their website pre-SHOT show...OOPSIE!
The Suppressor- http://beta.ruger.com/micros/silent-sr/index.html?r=y
2016 Catalog- https://ruger-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/Ruger_Firearms.pdf (I like the new 22/45 LITE threaded)
I'm already working with Ruger to get you guys a review on this lil dude ASAP. Stay Tuned![:)]
I for one am excited to see a company like Ruger join the NFA world. The more companies that follow them and Sig the better! The more interaction and support for NFA items the better chances we have of changing these ridiculous NFA laws. This is most definitely not the Ruger of yesteryear!
Thoughts?

Re: New suppressor from Ruger....Ruger?
Ruger just left my house and we were able to get some studio pics and shoot it out in the backyard. I will be headed to the range with Ruger and TheTacticalNomad (my camera man) tomorrow to film the review. I posted some teaser videos on my Facebook and Instagram accounts if you can't wait till the full video review is edited and uploaded. Let me know if you have any questions!

A better look at the splines that keep the tube from rotating and coming loose when unmounting the suppressor from it's host. Good for those AR15 SBR under rail .22lr jobs.

I am so looking forward to your review.I have never seen a shoddy product from Ruger and I suspect that this suppressor will perform very well.Could you list the shot to shot deviation when you are able to test this new suppressor.

Looks good, interesting design. Knowing this place, there's going to be some incoming hate from garage silencer designers who know better than Ruger but for whatever reason have never turned their genius into a lucrative empire.

Re: New suppressor from Ruger....Ruger?
Something has been intriguing me about these baffles, quite apart from the obvious and slightly compelling 'anatomical' element. Ruger would have spent quite a lot of time developing the shaping of the baffle face, and a seemingly obvious component of an asymmetrical peaked form such as this would seem to be a sharp ridge. At least this sort of 'cutting' edge seems to show up in a number of baffle designs, from the sharp edges of many conical baffles through many monocores with slanted elements having extremely sharp leading edges, even to quite a few K baffles with sharp-edged entry points. Of course many other baffles in each of these camps use blunted edges, often perpendicular to the bore. But Ruger has gone with neither of these, opting instead for a rounded peak. Why?
It seems to follow that they tried a sharp peak, since it would be simple enough to execute in prototyping, but found the results not quite so satisfactory as the rounded peak. Surely it couldn't have been that the sharp peak was too fragile, as with the rest of the geometry unchanged it would have had at its sharpest about a 40 degree angle. In cast stainless steel, hardly a fragile edge, especially for the .22lr application. I can better understand their not having used a squared-off upper edge as this would necessitate an additional machining step to make it look finished and clean, the two softer edges probably looking somewhat ill-defined, a small marketing failure if nothing else.
So what remained was the rounded peak to the rising mound (ahem) which was settled upon. But why? In terms of pressure flow, it seems to introduce a more 'splattering' effect than a mere sharp peak, without losing the dividing-and-colliding aspect overall. Further conflation, even if on a small scale at that peak, resulting perhaps in the defeat of a decibel or two? Just an idle thought, as I doubt the Ruger suppressor will become available over here... Any other thoughts on this design's rationales? Contrary takes on the particular feature perhaps?

maybe some better videos will come out ,

Re: New suppressor from Ruger....Ruger?
I kinda got the idea from their rep last year that one was coming and I think its great that they are finally doing this. The baffles look kinda like National Geographic boobies
any idea when they are shipping? you gotta buy that one, or sell it to me (you know I'm local) if not I want to buy one as soon as they are shipping.
wonder if they are going to offer a package set?

Ruger would be the one to introduce a cast baffle...very interesting. I bet it will be towards the top of the class when it comes to suppression.

Re: New suppressor from Ruger....Ruger?
I think Sig had some cast baffles a while back. That is a bizarre baffle design for sure. I am glad to see the mainstream companies getting into the game. Its about time. Ruger is obviously testing the waters to see how it goes. Reviews with no sound legit sound meter results are mostly just fluff to promote product. It would be interesting if someone could test one with a legit sound meter setup and see what it really does.
Also as an aside the "caged baffle" concept does not work in reality. Gas/lead/carbon buildup will find its way through and make disassembly very difficult. I have seen it hundreds of times.

Re: New suppressor from Ruger....Ruger?
well, the funky design means nothing until dbSPL tested against say the simple Sparrow mono.
Ruger would have to be "different", and in this case i'll bet ya the diff is just this wacky design in cast part, and, not as quiet as the competition.

I trust the dB numbers set forth by Ruger, they have nothing to hide. And people are quickly learning how important tone is. Tone is more important to me than numbers. In example, a can that meters at 115dB with a deep pleasing tone and one that meters at 114dB with high pitched tone. Sure, the higher frequency will travel less distance over time but the lower frequency will sound more pleasing to the shooter and others around it. I know you know all this, but more surprisingly I found that Ruger knew this as well. I was shown some behind the scenes testing and fluid dynamics testing models and it works quite well. Even more impressive is the lead engineer spent a year researching silencers as it was the first he had ever done. He used this site, NFAtalk and others searching through archives as well as hundreds of threads searching for what buyers wanted in a suppressor. And they nailed it on the head.
You can call my reviews fluff all you want. My job is to lay the specs out in the most neat and succinct way possible. This is how I've formatted my channel; to give the guy at home the best look at the suppressors he's looking at buying. No opinions, no "go buy this, its awesome" here. We strive to provide the VERY BEST video quality and as such we film in RAW and spend over 25hrs in post edit to properly color grade and comb over every detail of the image. Our audio is also clear as can be. We use a powered stereo mic placed 1m to the right of the muzzle aimed at the muzzle. We then use special settings in the camera to try and keep it from being peaked out and then finally we go through it in post edit. The result is a clear and accurate representation of the TONE, not the level of sound.
Every video I do is the result of over 40 hours of drive time, range time, and edit time. And my viewers pay nothing to see it. That's more than I can say for others, I surely remember paying to see some dB numbers when I was new to the market in 2007. It sucked....and I'll never do that to others as I want to help as many people as I can get into the world of NFA.

Yeah, too bad the new legislation is going to slow their sales growth. Thanks Gov't, guess with the "recession over" we can afford to damage American owned business againJohn Titsworth wrote:...I am glad to see the mainstream companies getting into the game.
