Huntertown Kestrel 762 K Baffle upgrade

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Huntertown Kestrel 762 K Baffle upgrade

Post by curtistactical »

Just finished up with our new Kestrel 762 K Baffle upgrade since getting the shop rebuilt. With the K Baffle upgrade the Kestrel will out perform most 30cal suppressors on the market when running sub sonic 300BLK and sub sonic 308WIN. There is no difference between the K Baffle and Cone Baffle upgrade when running super sonic ammo. The cost of the upgrade is $575 K Baffles and $375 for Cone Baffles.

I believe I sent you my can for the $375 for cone baffles. If I'm planning on running this primarily on my AK should I stay with cone vs the K for best supersonic performance? Do you also sell or know anywhere we can purchase new omni mounts for this suppressor besides the YHM adapter. I specifically want another 14X1LH AK mount.

Yep we have your suppressor. On the Kestrel Ak there is just not enough room for k baffles, the cones are better for the 7.62x39 full power loads anyway. I am not aware of any other mounts besides the YHM maybe someone else here will have some info on this. I had been thinking about making some different style flash hiders that would mount these suppressors, if there is enough interest in them I would be willing to turn some up.

We have made various mounts for the Kestrels in the past, which mount are you wanting? We have done thread and QD mounts.

I am pretty sure this is the flash hider he is using now http://yhm.net/30-cal-lt-a-muzzle-brakes.html , not sure what else is out there that will fit this mount on the HT cans.

I don't have "factory" parts but I have made both of those mounts as well as mounts for Griffin, Silencerco, and AAC mounts.

Well i just meant factory style since not all 14X1 LH thread adapters include detent notches. Do you make these for individual sale? I might be interested. Have one person checking his inventory for some but he hasn't gotten back to me yet.

I am the happy owner of the upgraded k-baffle Kestrel 308 Joe posted. The new baffle stack is amazingly quiter than the stock baffles. No change in blow back on my setup (10.5", 300BO, JP Silent Capture Spring-white, SLR adjustable gas block). I have been running the K308 on subsonic 300 blackout for about a year and half, tinkering with different powders, bullets, etcc... trying to quiet this monster down. Joe's baffles make it a whole new can. I wish I would have started with him! Joe communicated great, often sharing more information with me then he had to about his designs, was punctual and the machining is top quality. Anyone not happy with the Kestrel line should seriously consider this upgrade. I chose the kestrel line originally for the ability to clean after shooting lead/coated bullets, not so much price points. Joe's k-baffle upgrade still allows this flexibility. Below are some video comparisons, which don't do the true sound justice. The muzzle report/echo shooting in a wooded area with the stock kestrel was quite substantial, it is virtually eliminated with the k-baffle upgrade!

Stock Baffles (roughly 50 yd downrange): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOAa3XVh778

K-Baffle upgrade (roughly 20 yd downrange, hitting plates at 50 yd) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_mxGhgWleg

Joe is top quality! Feel free to ask me any questions!

It took right at four weeks. I belive Joe ran a couple sets of the baffles so if he has them on hand it might be quicker. He machined my set when I sent him the can.

I may send some of the Guardian customers your way Curtis, we are backed up between production, YHM rebuilds, Kestrel rebuilds, and the ever popular RJF rebuilds.

Spoke with some of the Guardian customers, they said they will wait for our rebuilds even though they are more expensive.

Will refer those that don't want to wait your way though.

Joe Is the Mench.
One day I hope to rebuild the kestrel so as feel like it wasnt THAT much of a waste.
When I do, I have total confidence in Curtis Tactical's ability to accomplish that goal.
