Fastest way to sbr a stripped lower?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Fastest way to sbr a stripped lower?

Post by BlakeJ »

On a lower that I haven't purchased yet, what is the fastest way to get the tax stamp back for a sbr?

I have one lower already sbr'd, but I had a shop do snail mail on the form 1. It took a while.

Kind of seems like a trick question, as nothing in the NFA registration phase is fast. As soon as you get the serial number for the lower you want to SBR, E-File your Form 1. You'll need to know what your barrel length and OAL is as well for the form.

According to the trend data at NFAtracker.com, it appears that e-file and paper Form 1's (for trusts) are taking about the same amount of time to process. Latest data for Trust Form 1s shows around 60 days from submittal/payment.
Speak softly, and carry a big stick.

If you're in that much of a "rush", why not log the lower in as a Pistol?
You can build your upper, while you wait for the stamp to clear.
Once approved, throw a buttstock on and you're done.
