I know cans evolve, but the last change on the Checkmate suprized me. It seems to be switching to a monocore from a stack of notched cones. Are they Making two models now??
Anyone have any scoop?

Don't know about changes in performance, but I think I like the old design better from a service standpoint.

Re: GA Checkmate changing to monocore?
Silencer Shop has video on both the older stack and newer monocore. Different days, but here are numbers.
22/45 old 128.5 frp 119.74 Ave
22/45 mono 123.5 frp 119.88 Ave
10/22 old 118.9 frp 115.2 Ave
10/22 mono 116.2 frp 115.26 Ave
I'm supprised to see less frp, I thought mono cores usually are higher.

Same here but it depends on the design...and the ammoCanOfWhooppass wrote: I'm supprised to see less frp, I thought mono cores usually are higher.
First thing I thought when I saw the change was probably easier/faster to mfg to keep up with demand or keep the price point low

I was guessing cheapier/easier to make as well. Not sure how I feel about the monocore with tube exposed to the blast. I know liberty regulator is well regarded. Still, they may have talked me out of this purchase.quiettime wrote:Same here but it depends on the design...and the ammoCanOfWhooppass wrote: I'm supprised to see less frp, I thought mono cores usually are higher.

I think the Mask, the Ruger can or the Regulator are the quietest .22 cans now with the least FRP. Those choices would be followed closely by the Spectre II and the Sparrow. All boast easy cleaning except the Regulator and it costs the most.

That is my understanding as well. I really like the qd though.quiettime wrote:I think the Mask, the Ruger can or the Regulator are the quietest .22 cans now with the least FRP. They're including an Element 2-like pusher tool with the new monocore version to help push the core out.CanOfWhooppass wrote:I was guessing cheapier/easier to make as well. I've used the AAC pusher tool on some of my unshielded suppressors and it works well to get the stack out.
