Same question with a twist

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Same question with a twist

Post by GUNHEEP »

Hello
I know this may have been answered before, but I a going to ask again...this is a two part question...
#1 I am looking for a 308 suppressor for my m14..must be full auto rated...but here is the twist...
#2 does anybody know who makes a suppressor or an adapter for the can, to mount on the m14, without removing the flashider
I was thinking of something along the lines of the old ww2 Japanese muzzle covers that is spring loaded and snaps around the back of the front sight base..
Thank you
Andy

I am not aware of one and think it's unlikely. The need for exact alignment and a good gas seal makes the muzzle device a critical part of a design that avoids baffle strikes.

In the Navy we had line throwing atachments for the end of our M14's, but there was no need for a precise bore alignment. Also with launchers all the gasses are holding the device back against the rifle, a suppressor is trying to launch itself down range unless held in place.
It's not a silencer, it's a can of whoopass!

COW's comment about bore alignment goes w/o saying.

I think he is saying he wants to use the stock muzzle brake and find an adapter to allow that to work with a suppressor. I think the kind of adapter your showing is what he wants to avoid. I can't imagine a slip over device working unless the suppressor was oversized like a 9mm or .45. Maybe Silencerco Hybrid, but that is giving up a lot of performance. What he is describing sound exactly like the line launchers we used at sea.
