Suppressor recommendations for 300BLK SBR?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Suppressor recommendations for 300BLK SBR?

Post by jjasonjllim »

Planning on a new system for 300BLK, SBR, suppressed.
Looking for system recommendations of both the rifle and the suppressor.

Looking for the best options that get closest to the criteria, and why.
Are there new designs coming soon that I should wait for?

Criteria:
1) No ear ringing, retaining auditory awareness.
2) No gas blowback to the eyes, and affecting my vision.
3) Short to maintain agility of an SBR.
4) Weight.
5) No accuracy issues.
6) No reliability issues.

Thanks.

I amusing a 12" Wilson Combat heavy barrel and a Silencerco Omega and it is perfect. With subs, it is very quiet, the action cycling is louder than the report. I use an adjustable gas block from Seekins, and have no blowback, 100% reliability and excellent accuracy. I recommend the Omega highly.

While I am still waiting on my Omega, I EXPECT that the build I have would meet all those criteria. See my 'evil grey rifle' with some details here:
https://www.edcforums.com/threads/evil- ... 59/page-34

The side charging receiver has no rear charging handle but a trapdoor which (hopefully), seals off that route to gas. Will see.
Weight is not too bad but if I prioritized that more I'd have gone different optic, handguard, maybe stock, no light, maybe some Ti parts.
I'm really quite tickled with the ergos. Left-side charge + BAD lever fixes much of the ergonomic atrocity that is AR malfunction clearance. Will let you know how he the suppressed shooting goes but so far (unsupressed) she's a real peach.

GemTec Sandstorm, Liberty Mystic, Both work great. Sandstorm is a little shorter 13 oz, Mystic is 10.5 oz

HEre's an EXCELLENT write up on getting the 300BLK quiet. It is NOT just the suppressor. http://www.300blktalk.com/forum/viewtop ... 28&t=98869

Wherever there's a 300 SBR upper, there's usually a 556 SBR upper around too... or at least soon to follow.

The short barrel on the 556 is what you have to worry about. Be sure to get a can with 1 or more Stellite baffles.

Purpose built? Liberty Chaos.

Also a JP Silent Capture Spring to eliminate cheese grater action of a standard buffer spring/weight.

Just got my Omega this week. Seems quieter than my 762-SDN-6 and has less blow-back. Works well on supers, too. POI shift at 50 yds was not measurable (I was shooting an EOTech and my eyes suck). I'll mount a proper optic and try someday.

+1 for the JP Spring. Big improvement there, too.

I was shooting dirty Gem-Tech 187s and got very title blow-back, so I am pleased. Tried it with bare ears and was fine, although ear-pro is always a good idea as hearing loss is cumulative.

Weight is sweet, noticeably lighter than the AAC can.

Length is good, too. I am using the ASR mount which adds a bit but will be replacing the can's muzzle brake with the flat end cap.

Bottom line; I love my AAC 762-SDN-6 but would choose the Omega over it in a heart-beat. Lighter, shorter, quieter and less blow-back make it a winner.

I use a Liberty Mystic and like the fact it works on super .223s with a bit of cooling time. It is a 9 mm can that will also handle lead.

I second the Liberty Mystic. I just started casting lead 300 blk so a tough take apart can is a must.

Need to know a couple things

Will you ever want to shoot cast projectiles?

Do you want to shoot supersonic loads?

Perfect can for BLK, as long as you do not want to shoot cast. Great performer. Mine's very quiet!

I built one more than a decade ago that meets all of your criteria.
