Curtis Tactical ST45CFP Multi Use Suppressors are ready to go.

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Curtis Tactical ST45CFP Multi Use Suppressors are ready to go.

Post by curtistactical »

This is the Curtis Tactical ST45CFP suppressor. This was designed with the same multi use in mind as the design of our ST9CFP. The rear threads are 5/8-32 for attachment on 458socom rifles, the booster assembly threads into the rear of the suppressor allowing use on any handgun 45cal and smaller. The suppressor has all 17-4 baffles and end caps. weight is 11.7oz without the booster and 14.8oz with the booster, length is 7" no booster and 8.5" with the booster, diameter is 1.375". Suppressor is $625 and booster assembly with one piston is $275.

Thanks! A lot of design went into these to keep them lightweight and still handle the 458socom. For its size it actually does a nice job even on full power super sonic 458.

Being only 1.375" what kind of suppression are you seeing ? Not a lot of volume.

Given that it is for .45 ACP ~830 fps the variable is baffle design.

At the far end calibration point for .45, for example, an early
1970s OCONUS Armorer-made suppressor
had the dimensions of 1.5" x 8" with simple bronze washer baffles
and spacers.
No meters available but on a special bolt action rifle it was if memory serves as quiet
as some present day top of the line .22 cans- the often quoted " ... like a BB gun".

On an Gov. 1911A1 with a Bar-Sto it was hearing safe, especially in
a dense environ. No comparison was reported made with a Hush-Puppy
9mm.

Bet Curtis Tactical matches or exceeds that primitive design given
their superlative reputation.

Just a hoary anecdote for historical chuckles.

Its really not a volume issue with 45 it is more of an issue of how well you can strip the gas away from the bore and trap it. Volume makes up for poor design. The suppressor has one blast baffle and six k baffles. 458socom supers in 16" barrel meter 138-141db. and 230gr 45acp is 133db dry, 126db wet. We also build a 458 reflex suppressor that is 1.75"dia x 12" and reflexes 4" over the barrel if you want the 458 as quiet as it gets but there is something to be said for a 7" long suppressor that weighs under 12oz that will protect your hearing while hunting with a 45cal rifle.

I can assure you that big Socom suppressor is a thing of beauty.

I'll post a full report of function after it gets out of jail.
