Best Range Bag Suppressor Glove?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Best Range Bag Suppressor Glove?

Post by JeffWard »

I've got a goofy black oven mitt for removing HOT Suppressors after shooting.

Who's got a better solution to keep my man-card intact?

Any old set of welders glove will do. The are MADE to handle very hot metal.

First of all, if anyone challenges your man card on the oven mitt let them touch the hot suppressor and record them squealing like a little girl.

Second, my man card needs no external validation so I'll use a pink Barbie oven mitt if I feel like it.

Lastly, my suppressors have to cool down a bit before I put them in the bag anyway so I use a plain leather work glove similar to the welder's glove but without the evening glove length cuff.

I ended buying an 18X24" piece of "Welder's Blanket" on Amazon for $17. It'll handle 1800F, and I can cut it into four 9"X12" "Suppressor Washcloths" to handle cans. Basic black carbon-fiber, 6mm thick stuff.

Maybe I'll start buying the bigger sheets, cutting it up, and selling it on Facebook for $9.99 each... ;)

Excellent entrepreneurship.

See if you can get it listed next to those solvent traps for those furious cleaning sessions that get things all heated up.

Jeff. et all

Interested in the perceived felt heat when you grab a can with the welder blanket?
Wondering if the blanket with some bungy cord would make an inexpensive heat shield??

Is the 1800F rating the burst into flames temp or the touch temp??

Jim

PS: I currently carry BBQ mitts rated at 932F, goofy looking,, poor trigger control,, encourages rude comments,, but they work: :]

I guess im cheap. I went to target and bought a black oven mitt for a few dollars. Works good enough for me. lol

Im still amased how long it takes them to cool down once you get them roasty hot.

outside it's easy to quench them with water if you're in a hurry.
