There's a petition at Whitehouse.gov to repeal the NFA. It may be a longshot, but we need to let our voices be heard.

That ain't how the government works. The petition thing is feel good pap created by obamanites in order to placate weak minded liberals. The petitions have resulted in exactly zero forward motion in any area. They have not changed anything with regards to policy or actions by the POTUS.
The moments I was censored was the moment that I won. That's twice, now. Thanks jwbaker, et al, for my victories.

They're basically just a survey with only the answers the maker of the survey wants to see since only people who are for getting rid of the NFA would be the people who would sign it. And any person who wants to buy a gun maybe shouldn't automatically have access to a fully automatic weapon. Most would be responsible, but the ones who aren't would be a nightmare. I had a friend of mine who is a big game guide tell me a story of some rich guy who went on an elk hunt and blew a hole through his front truck door....afterwards he found out the guy had never even shot a gun before but decided one day he wanted to kill and elk so hired a guide, bought an expensive gun that was bore sighted only and showed up to kill an elk. Imagine that moron with an automatic weapon? Now imagine those that know how to use them but are absolutely batshit crazy. I'd pass on those kinda people being able to have some things on the NFA list.
I've gotta stop this habit.

Sill, the current system is ridiculous, replace with something better. If I buy 12 silencers in a year the have to do 12 background checks on me to make sure I haven't become a terrorist or felon in the last month since nth last one? Why not just a 12 or 24 month, or five year nfa license? I'd feel more safe and less inconvenienced if I had to do a more rigorous application process but then I actually had a free pass to buy nfa weapons for a couple years.OJB4 wrote:I'd pass on those kinda people being able to have some things on the NFA list.
Probably the finest example of government bureaucracy I can think of

It is supposed to be ridiculous. That was the whole idea.fishman wrote: Sill, the current system is ridiculous, replace with something better.

I agree. that doesn't mean we can't replace it.poikilotrm wrote:It is supposed to be ridiculous. That was the whole idea.fishman wrote: Sill, the current system is ridiculous, replace with something better.

Re: Repeal the NFA Petition
The other obstacle i see to all of this are those people who are already are NFA holders who payed twenty thousand on that registered auto sear which will know become worth a lot less IMO. It would be nice though.
