General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

This is the integrally suppressed 300blk AR15 that we built as a prize rifle for the Mammoth Sniper Challenge.

As always, nice work, Joe.
Were the ports tuned for factory HV or SS ammo?
How much difference did adding the ports make? Not only to sound reduction, but also to velocity?

The ports are just there to bleed off gas more efficiently then a reflex which is usually only about 20-30 percent efficient. If you were controlling velocity the ports would be further back from the muzzle and more of them. It is losing around 40fps on factory sub loads but it makes a huge difference in sound reduction.

Did you bother to angle the ports or did you drill them square?

I just noticed, what looks like, the muzzle threads are welded on.

I checked out the website for that event. Seems like a good time. Did you attend?

The holes are drilled square to the bore, the threads look that way because of the relief behind the threads, its all one piece. We went to the Mammoth Sniper Challenge on the 5th for demo/sight in day. SWS and Gemtech were there also, done a lot of chatting with the rep from Gemtech, he was a cool dude to talk suppressors with. We also had a lot of fun demoing our suppressors, other than the snow and cold it was a fun day.

:) I just looked at the picture of the threads, that is a powder ring on the barrel behind the threads, I test fired the rifle before the pictures lol.
