Heavier Buffer Than an H3?

I got a 7.5" 9mm AR (Glock Mags) from PSA.

It runs a H3 buffer and the hybrid 9mm bolt carrier.

Unsuppressed, it runs perfectly, but when I put my SiCo Octane on it, it ejects fine, feeds fine, but is NOT reseting the trigger. A couple of friends suggested with the can on it is cycling too fast?? They suggested a heavier buffer or buffer spring.

1) Does this make sense?
2) Where do I get a heavier buffer than an H3? Current Buffer is 5.5oz.
I own an AR-10 Collapsable stock buffer (short and heavy)... maybe I'll weigh that.
3) Could I just swap to a stiffer spring? Maybe a 308 spring?

Interesting having issues with my 9MM Quarter Circle Glock lower, works great suppressed with 115 grain federals but when i run 147 grain federals i get a lot of double feeds. I'm using the JP silent spring and im thinking of grabbing one of the adjustable 9mm buffers from Heavy Buffers or one from KAK. This one weights 12 ounces and is designed for suppressed guns.

I have a 5.5" barrel 9mm AR and Octane 45. The thing just begs me to shoot it fast and even with sleeping kids in the car 10 feet away, window down, they stayed asleep. It's an absolute blast, and the only round out of thousands that has ever jammed was the first round into the chamber. A little polishing and I've never looked back. It's like a garden hose.

I bought the KAK "really" heavy 9mm buffer. It has 4 tungsten weights. Then I took a carbine buffer and swapped in the 3 steel weights. The net is an 8.5 oz 9mm KAK buffer and an H3 buffer for my tuning kit. Maybe a spare H2 and H1 if you like. I also run a Spingco blue. I've run the red just fine and an OEM fine too. Charging with the red seemed too heavy and when unsuppressed brass dribbled out. Shooting with the OEM springs seemed too harsh in comparison. Blue was just right.

Anyway, somewhere on the web is a formula for calculating SMG blow-back bolt weight. Wish I bookmarked it. Bottom line, there is a lot more energy to diffuse than most think. My bolt and buffer weighs 1lb 7.2oz combined. That seems just right for me with my spring, but I was getting calculated numbers over 2 pounds. People running $1.75 behind a carbine buffer and an OEM spring is a mighty scary thought to me.

Yes, you can try a heavier spring.

+1 for heavybuffers. I have two but only one works and that is the XH buffer in one of my lwrc ar's. That thing shoots so soft its hard to believe its even a 556. The other is the heavy buffer that they make for the lwrc ultra compact stock and when I put that it the gun doesn't cycle properly not sure why.

I found an "H4" (8.6oz) buffer on midway USA, and a Wolff heavy spring. Testing tomorrow.

If you want a heavier buffer use a 9mm buffer. But there is a guy who does custom buffers and will make them even heavier and will slow down the cyclic rate. One of the best places to find heavy buffer weights are:

I run a 9 oz buffer on my 9 mm carbine suppressed with a Timney trigger. Works perfect.

Sorry for the late follow-up.

8.6 oz buffer from Vltor, and a Heavy Wolf buffer spring... STILL didn't reset.

Called CMC... Their trigger works 50% of the time with the 9mm ARs! It's a known issue, and they are engineering a trigger specifically for the 9mm bolts. I will be one of the first to get one.

I put the factory mill-spec trigger back in and it's now a SWEET flat shooter with the super heavy buffer and spring! The trigger sucks... but that'll be fixed later.
