I paid on April 6, 2017 for a suppressor direct from the manufacturer. So he had my local dealer info the next day and was going to send it out once the ATF approves the form 3.
Here it is, June 18, 73 days and nothing...
So how long should that take now? My form 3 for Jan 2016 took 45 days. The form 4, 9 months of course. It shouldn't take over 60 days for a form 3 now right?
I contacted the manufacturer 5 days ago and haven't head back. My local dealer doesn't have the gun.
I hope it's just a miscommunication, and I don't want to come across as a nervous Nellie, but this seems something isn't right here.
What are the current form 3 wait times??

I talked to them about 2 weeks ago, they were still processing forms from July of last year, so you should plan on waiting 9 months to a year. There were hundreds of thousands of applications made in summer of last year to beat the change in the laws and they are still processing those.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping these would pickup, but it look like it has gotten worse.edwillia wrote:I talked to them about 2 weeks ago, they were still processing forms from July of last year, so you should plan on waiting 9 months to a year. I did find this info after I posted my original message.

According to this, dealer to dealer form 3's are taking about a month or less. So not sure why some are taking longer?
But, the manufacturer I talked to said it's longer. He did give me the option of cancelling my order, which I took him up on. Which of course I am kind of regretting now. Oh well.
Re: What are the current form 3 wait times??
Form 3 is a dealer to dealer transfer. Since the dealer has been investigated thoroughly to get an FFL, this is really just a rubber stamp. Form 4 is a complete investigation of you as a person, who does not own an FFL.

A few months ago I bought another suppressor and dealer to dealer took a bit over 2 months! Even those times got longer and longer, not just form 4's to us. I don't know where they stand now but it does not surprise me that the old quote of a month or so no longer holds true.
