Looking for help picking a pistol can

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Looking for help picking a pistol can

Post by czgunner »

I recently found some money, so I am thinking about getting a pistol suppressor.
I have a 7.62 YHM ULT, and a Sparrow.
I shoot 99% 9mm, but I do have a 357 SIG P239, and a HK USPC 45.
It needs to be serviceable, and preferably something I can clean in my wet tumber.
The Rugged Obsidian looks neat, and I like the sound of the warranty, but I don't know how long any company is really going to be around.
Let me know your suggestions please!

You probably know the following already but here goes:

I would pick the features from the established manufactures you like and go with one of these and not concentrate on manufacturer. The bigger (still small in the corporate world) have mostly the same warranty.

I prefer longer vs shorter tubes as I can use my standard sights. No aluminum anywhere. Dis-assembly for cleaning. Reasonably priced adapters.

You will loose sound suppression trying to get one that works on 45 as well as 9s.

Don't let price be your principal motivating factor. Quality costs.

Like hardcase says pick the can you like based on the features you like.

Even though companies may come and go or get swallowed up by others there will always be a shop somewhere that can repair a can for a nominal fee.
