Hello all

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Hello all

New member, didn't see a dedicated subforum for introductions, so doing it here!

Anywho, long time firearm enthusiast, recent 07/02 status, been working overtime to develop new & novel designs. Some I'll share photos of, others I'll be vague about due to IP concerns on a public board, but I look forward to sharing what I know and learning from others here!

Some of you may recognize my handle from other boards, or from my YouTube channel. Yes, I'm the same guy with a flat affect who has done some pretty interesting scratch gun builds.

On that note, do we have any internal image hosting here? I don't see any such provision. Used to use Photobucket, but most of you probably know the story with their extortion gambit, so I no longer do and haven't signed up with any others, just been using in-board image hosting.

No internal image hosting available to members ... imgur, photbucket, etc. ... imgur seems to be free so far

Welcome, link your YT channel somewhere.

I've very much enjoyed your build discussions and machining as displayed on your Youtube channel. Very lovely work indeed, and quite inspiring. I'm not going to pursue semi-automatic takedown work for myself, as I prefer bolt action single shot in my lightweight .22lr rifles, but the detail you show and explain is of great use anyway. Thank you for offering such refreshingly non-political, work-focused content.

Welcome!

I enjoyed your efficient, informative, and minimalist
YouTube tutorials.

Brought back fond memories from over 60 years ago
when as a wide eyed freshman, when not taking classes
or studying, worked in the Institute's Machine Shop
for $1.00 per hour ... tuition $350.00 per semester :) ...
I was continually amazed at the talent of the old crusty WW1 machinists
turning out one-of-a-kind elaborate parts, some times classified, that the engineering and
physics departments thought up. Pre NCR days.

Still have total admiration for the metal artistry, creativity, and enviable talent
of inspired machinists.

Always seemed to find my way over the intervening years to
contractors' machine shops ... some had 16' lathe beds .... during lunch hours
when others preferred lunching with directors.

Took only a few minutes to break the ice and overcome suspicion.

I could read their minds "What is this #&^%$ suit doing here".

The 'secret' middle English descriptors which I had learned which
made the machining of difficult metals complex parts obediently submit
was the 'secret handshake' into acceptance. You obviously know what I mean.

My appreciation for your sharing.

Best.
