Cycling issues

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Cycling issues

Post by Shecky556 »

I own an FNX 45 Tactical and I've put plenty (1500+) of rounds through it with zero issues feeding. Put my brand new Thompson Machine Poseidon can on it (wet) and it will not cycle. Either stove pipes or failure to eject completely. Using 220gr blazer brass. Any thoughts? Anyone have similar issues with that can?

Since the Poseidon doesn't have a booster it can cause problems on some guns.

There have been a few people in the past who've had problems, I've never had a problem with the Poseidon on my P229 or P226 shooting 147gr or 115gr ammo.

You might have to reduce the recoil spring from the factory 17 lb. A few other people have reduced theirs to 13 lbs to reliably shoot downloaded ammo (and your situation when using the suppressor is similar). A Google search will net you instructions on what they did.

First, you might try +p ammo and see if it cycles OK.
You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time...and those are pretty good odds.

Thank you gentlemen for your responses. Follow up question, is this a common issues with sub sonic large frame handguns? Or is it more suppressor specific issue?

I'd try the spring option listed above. If you do please let us know how it works. I also own a FNX 45 Tac and would be curious should I run into a similar problem if using a different can than my Octane 45 or Liberty Miranda

Thanks

You're not trying to run without wipes, are you? You need that back pressure with it not having a recoil booster.

My Poseidon runs fine with wipes on the P226 and P229.
