Omega 9k adapter loosening up

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Omega 9k adapter loosening up

Post by rentprop1 »

no this isn't one of those should I use a crush washer questions

got Omega 9k on a Scoprion Evo ...after about 100 rounds, the can is loosening up from the adapter while the adapter is still tight against the muzzle .....the actual threads between the adapter and inside the can seem to be real lose?

adapter is Si Co octane - Omega 1/2x28 adapter not some off brand

so whats the fix for this, teflon tape seems like it would melt cause more problems, look unsightly ?

The adapter's threads may be on the minimum side of tolerance while the can's thread might be on the maximum side.

Call SilencerCo tomorrow. They should be able to help. Ask them to send you another adapter to try.

thread tape helps to a degree, if the tolerances are as far apart as mbogo suggests it may not help enough but that shouldn't keep you from trying it

keep the tape off the shoulder, on the threads only

destroyed threads and baffle strikes are a lot more unsightly than a little charred thread tape

I make a mount wrench and strap wrench adapter for that. Let me know if you want a set.

Looks like the image urls expired, maybe imgur hosting would last longer?
