I'm new to the 9mm suppressor game and I'm trying out different ammo. I bought two boxes in 9mm, but haven't shot it yet. I'm curious if it is quieter than my Fiocchi158. I have ears, but I don't have a meter. They make it in 9mm, 45ACP, 300BLK, and in 22LR (which is really just repackaged M22 subsonic).

Don’t pay a lot of money for hype. A 147gr or heavier projectile from a 9mm will be subsonic, regardless of packaging or brand. With .45 ACP it is 230gr or heavier.
The moments I was censored was the moment that I won. That's twice, now. Thanks jwbaker, et al, for my victories.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not so sure that all 147 grain is created equal. I shot 147gr American Eagle and it was noticeably louder than the 147gr Fiocchi and Browning BPT 147gr. I wish I had a meter though.

It was a fad for a while for people to chase the lowest decibel ammo possible. Special K was king of the hill for quite a while, I've never tried it and I haven't seen any talk about it for quite a while. I think most of the people chasing Hollyweird quiet these days roll their own.

I'm really partial to 165 gr xtreme bullets loaded up with 2.8-3.0 gr of titegroup. More quiet than any other commercial or handload that I have ever tried.
I don't care what your chart says
Re: Have you tried this ammo? (Winchester Super Suppressed)
Yeah, I heard someone mention Special K the other day. I'm not even sure it's being made anymore. I'm not worried about Hollywood quiet. I'm just a kid with a new toy and trying out different stuff. So far Fiocchi 158 is my favorite, but it's a little pricey for plinking.doubloon wrote:It was a fad for a while for people to chase the lowest decibel ammo possible. I'm not a reloader. I lack both the desire and focus. I'd blow up something.John A. wrote:I'm really partial to 165 gr xtreme bullets loaded up with 2.8-3.0 gr of titegroup. More quiet than any other commercial or handload that I have ever tried.

By all means play.
Collect all your brass along the way then start reloading for a combination of quiet and cheap.

Instead of reloading I wait until there is a great deal and buy a truckload. Currently working thru 10K rounds of the fiocchi 158gr I bought 18 Months ago. Great stuff.
