The details say it was in Miami. It looks like a Maxim 9. Anyone else want to confirm? Maybe a Taser???

To me, it looks more like a traditional handgun with a light

Judging from the photo (and lacking an ejection port), I'm going to say taser
taser
maxim
taser
maxim
I don't care what your chart says

Looks like a TASER.
The moments I was censored was the moment that I won. That's twice, now. Thanks jwbaker, et al, for my victories.
Re: Robbery with SilencerCo Maxim 9
The amateurish way the thug was holding his weapon
was begging for the application of an obscure fast disarm-and-extreme-
prejudice drop that was taught in a tight circle long ago
but now can be seen in fashion in the
Spetsnaz repertoire.
If I locate a source I shall publish.
Reminds me of a story in around the 1960s of
the great boxer Jack Dempsey ... "The Manassa Mauler" ..
who was exiting his restaurant one night, I think it was in NY.
Two toughs approached this old man, an easy mark, with a weapon.
Not being a mincing liberal jack punched one in the ribs causing
a collapse with the accompanying drop of weapon. Then jack
hit the other with a few fast body punches. When the police
arrived the hoods begged them to rescue them with " ..who the f@(#
is this guy". The boys in blue threw fits of laughter.
Similar recent experience happened to a mugger picking on a limping
old guy ... mistake. He was a world champion kick boxer.
Moral: speed and training beats youth and stupidity.

Jack Dempsey’s is in the Bywater neighborhood in New Orleans. I lived a few blocks from there. Good food. Nice people.

Decent write-up on the Dempsey story here:
https://www.boxingmonthly.com/stories/c ... k-dempsey/
Got to like his attitude about how the two young men who mugged him, or rather tried to mug him from either door while he was in a cab could have benefitted from the discipline of boxing so they could put their lives on a better track. So true.

Thank you for finding this great detailed story. Fills ina_canadian wrote:Decent write-up on the Dempsey story here:

and clarifies so much. The photo showed
Dempsey in his youth when a lean muscled mauling machine
could take down larger opponents.
My brother in the 1940's had a 'pocket book' ( paperback
for GIs ) with Dempsey's image on the cover. Sure impressed
a kid from Southie.
Best.
