Obsidian 45 with promo kit

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

Obsidian 45 with promo kit

Post by wemmd »

Hi, this is my first post, and don't know that much about suppressors so your patience is appreciated. I purchased an obsidian 45 for XMAS and got the promo kit for free that allows me to use it on a 45 ACP or 9mm host. The hosts that I am considering for the suppressor is the 9mm CZ P10c and 1911 chambered in 45 ACP. The kit has a spacer and am not sure what it is for? Can anyone give me the skinny on this? Also, I am considering purchasing a modular, long range rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 1/2-28 threaded barrel that is compatible with the adapter in the obsidian kit but am not sure if using this suppressor for that host is a good idea?

Any suggestions are welcomed!

The spacer replaces the spring when youre using the silencer on a gun with a fixed barrel.

The Obsidian is a pistol suppressor.

Do not use it on a centerfire rifle, it is not designed to handle those kinds of pressures and you will destroy it.

You will need to buy a rifle suppressor for use on your 6.5 Creedmoor.

I agree with ogree.

The Obsidian is a pistol caliber can.

I just looked at their webpage and there was no indication that it's rated for 6.5 creedmore.
I don't care what your chart says

.450 Bushmaster runs about 36,500 c.u.p. and Rugged probably has a barrel restriction for the .450 going through the Obsidian.

Best to call Rugged and ask.

6.5 Creedmoor runs about 61,000 c.u.p.

Big difference.

I would bet that 6.5CM has a higher muzzle pressure.

But, yeah, call rugged.

Much. Starting out with nearly twice the pressure, and it's attenuating in 1/3 the volume at any given barrel length compared to .458 cal.

The Obsidian is a good can, but with it's aluminum tube, I wouldn't chance it on a high velocity rifle.
