Have a friend who purchased a B&T for 45ACP a month or two ago and is supposed to take delivery as soon as paperwork goes through.
He has asked me to make some subsonic 45 ammo for it. Was reading on another posting (for 50 BMG w/Bowers can) that the can increased the MV by about 50-60 fps. (powder not burned up??) Anyway, this B&T has a 6.9" bbl. I am not sure if powder will be spent at that point so the acceleration will be over, or if I should expect to add more speed because of the can. I figured to use 8.0 gr Longshot make test rounds approx 1050 fps w/6" bbl on 1911, then add 60 for "fudge factor" because of .9" longer barrel... Any advice out there? Thanks.

Re: Subsonic Ammo for B&T GHM45/APC45
Sorry... forgot to mention, the 45's will use 185gr SCHP's. Scale powder back to get 1000fps w/ 6" bbl... which should give about 1050 with 6.9" bbl.
Thanks

Why not just buy ball ammo like you find on the shelf at walmart or anywhere else? All standard pressure 230 gr loads will be sub, even from SBRs.

According to this chart: http://www.ballistics101.com/45_acp.php, 185gr +P .45acp should only be getting 1000fps, so you should be good unless you are REALLY overcharging the cartridge.
