Looking for a offset 9mm silencer

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Looking for a offset 9mm silencer

Post by YugoRPK »

I picked up a G380 High Standard I want to turn into a somewhat integral suppressed pistol probably cutting it just ahead of the receiver and threading it for a silencer and installing a front sight on the silencer. Anyway what is good out there for a offset 9mm silencer short on top but most of the volume on the bottom?

The SilencerCo Osprey. It's available in 9mm, .45 (full-length and shortened models).

Definitely not. 40's gun. It would look completely off base. Needs too be round

AAC Illusion 9 is round and offset. Look into that one.

Having finally read your query carefully ( Careful reading
anathema to guys :) ) may I point you to
a good design that you could emulate is a
version of the effective 1948 Russian Stetchkin offset
" APB SUPPRESSED MACHINE PISTOL Silencer".

Peasant simplicity but effective.

The G-380 was originally designed by Hi Standard just for an integral silencer. They had delivered one to the OSS by the end of the war with its integral silencer for evaluation. Unfortunately I cant find a picture. The war ended and the government cancelled the contract and Hi Standard built the G-380 using the large frames they had built for the government contract . The gun was a total flop and by the end the couldnt give them away and they wholesaled for $15 with a $25 retail and they sat on the shelves for years. In any case they have a much heavier slide and a stiffer recoil spring than you typically find on .380's.

So, any suggestions for this thing? I'm shelving the offset suppressor idea. I have no good way of building a offset and the commercial options are sparse. I'm wondering how well a 1 inch OD clipped cone suppressor at 7-8" long would work on a .380 round.
