Ruger Standard slide lock

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

Ruger Standard slide lock

Post by YugoRPK »

The original Ruger .22 Standard pistols had a safety that also locked the slide. I know the Vietnam era ones built by MAC for the government with an integral silencer used a slide lock. I assume they just modified the gun to disable the safety part of it so that when the safety is pushed up it locks the slide but still allows the trigger to pull.
Anyone know anything about this? I want to do the same to my MAC Ruger Standard clone.

I remembered this site. You may find it interesting.

Gun Smithing Kink: A 'Russian Peasant' intermediary solution:

A bent spoon from handle as back strap at back of grip, bowl against
back of slide. Folks have said they kept gloved thumb in back to
get same effect.

Caveat ... not recommended for holding back slide of the stellar
C96 Broomhandle Mauser*. :)

Figured it out. The Standard safety is different than the Mark 1 on and it has an integral bolt lock . Disable the sear block by grinding the part of the safety that engages the sear and the bolt lock still works.
