sending 22/45 barrels thru the mail

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

sending 22/45 barrels thru the mail

Post by bkkd »

is there a problem sending a 22/45 barrel thru the mail to say like lakeside machine to have it threaded, i know the barrel is serialized for ruger 22 pistols, so does this make it a firearm in of itself and does it have to be shipped back to me thru a ffl dealer.............has anybody sent just a barrel off to have it threaded and had it just returned back to them...........

It is legally the firearm, you can ship it to an FFL holder and it can be shipped directly back to you. Probably hit you for $35ish for FedEx each way. IIRC it has to be overnighted and insured per their rules. USPS wont ship it, UPS is a PITA.

Since it is a handgun you can not ship it via USPS unless you are an FFL, but you can send guns to ffls and gunsmiths and get them back with out any issues.

I kinda like Fedex myself.
