Is .058 wall thickness enough to cut good threads in for a 9mm pistol suppressor? T-6 aluminium. any machinists have a thread pitch to reccommend?

I know of a popular maker that uses 0.065 aluminum for their 9mm can.

The height of a thread form, from crest to peak, is mathematically defined by the formula

D=0.866 / N

where D = depth of the V form, from peak to base, and N is the turns per inch. Note that the diameter of the tube is irrelevent. The thickness required varies only with the pitch, with finer pitches requiring less "meat" in the tube than coarser pitches.

Therefore, if you thread the tube 32 TPI, the threads will consume 0.027" of the 0.058" wall, leaving about 0.029". You'll have to decide if this will be strong enough. Personally, I'd go with 0.093 or thicker wall. You can always turn down the OD later after the can is completed.
