.38spl / .357mag in a 9mm can?

General silencer discussion. If you want to talk about a specific silenced rifle or pistol, it is best to do that in the rifle or pistol section for that brand.

All NFA laws apply.

.38spl / .357mag in a 9mm can?

Post by V8Astro »

Could I use a 9mm can on a .38spl / .357mag lever action? The barrel is 20" long. The can is made of T6 AL and has K-baffles.

Would .357mag be too much pressure?

I hope so. I have a Puma getting threaded, I'll be using subgun cans on it so they can probably take it.

Why not call up the suppressor manufacturer and ask them. Better yet, write a letter or even an email so you have their reply in writing. If you have a problem you want something better than "The guys on the internet told me...."

Who is doing the threading? I have a stalled Puma project rifle that needs it but the ammo tube under the barrel is complicating matters a bit.

Mike McClellan, M & M Gunsmithing. He's their American warranty service provider. He shouldn't have any trouble setting you up, as he does barrel and mag tube shortening all the time (mine is going down to 16.5"); waits are long though as he's a one-man operation.

Cool. How long will the mag tube be, and how many rounds will it hold?

IIRC the mag tube will be 16". I didn't even ask about capacity because I didn't really care. My guess is it'll be around seven rounds.
