Send it to Haz-Mat like everything else they have.

Tire shops deal with a lot of hazardous materials just like your local auto repair places.

Learn something new every day. Didn't know they dealt with hazmat stuff.

I had to deal with a lot of unknown hazardous waste at my work. After getting profiled, it is dealt with in one of three ways. The waste is either buried, burned or diluted. with respect to lead acetate, i'm only speculating it would be diluted. You could evaporate it down then mix it with old latex paint. Mark it lead paint and take it to the hazmat people.

There are a couple threads floating around the forum about precipitating the lead in solid form from the lead acetate solution to make it safer to handle.

Other than playing chem major with dangerous chemicals the best idea for disposal would seem to be to hand it over in a sealed and labeled container to a disposal unit. I see no compelling need to evaporate it or mix it with anything before handing it over.

Organic lead (like lead acetate) is VERY toxic and is easily absorbed by living things! Be VERY careful in handling it!!!!

Lead chloride, however, is not very soluble and easily precipitated from the liquid solution of lead acetate and water. Just add table salt ... make sure you use enough that precipitation is complete. Then filter out the lead chloride. Now you have a solid that is much safer to handle, store, and get to hazmat.
